Anger Work-Out Day 4

'Help, the universe hates me ...'

Many people do not think they are angry with Allah (swt) because it may not be a conscious thing. We get angry if we did not attain something from ‘life’ or the universe that we think we deserve or want or we lose something or someone. We are uncertain who to blame because we often do not realize that it is Allah (swt) that we are angry with. He controls everything and made us what we are and chooses what to give or take away. Anything that happens is with His permission and direction. To be angry at something like this is to be angry at Him and dissatisfied with His decree. This is a state that can weaken our imaan and should be challenged no matter how difficult.

Daily Task: Work out your anger against Allah (swt)

Write down all the things that make you feel angry that are in Allah's hands. For example, your brother has been given the better end of the stick in life, better looks, intelligence etc … The next time you find yourself thinking about any of these things remember who is the Creator of the universe and who has control over all things. Again, all that He does has hidden wisdom we do not see. To be a true Muslim is to submit to the will and decree of Allah (swt), this means to accept what we have been given/ takdeer with contentment even if we may want something else. Yes we can make dua for certain things to change, but we should never lose sight that it is in Allah’s (swt) hands and we should not get angry if our wish is not fulfilled but accept it and be content with Allah’s (swt) decree. Ponder over this concept today, do some research and write a short essay (max 1 page) about it.
